Tattoo Apprenticeship Portfolio

Hello, I am an aspiring tattoo artist looking for an apprenticeship. Doing tattoos didn’t cross my mind, until I got my first one and I fell in love with the craft. It was a fascinating process and the artist that first tattooed me (The fantastic @electric.lollipop Instagram) walked me through it with such enthusiasm. This sent me to learn more about the process and culture and led me to want to learn how to do it myself as a tattoo artist by seeking an apprenticeship.

I’m always open for any additional questions. This page will constantly change as I am always drawing and building up my portfolio. Feel free to view any other part of my site as well, everything on this site is an example of my work. My email is serpentstagstudios@gmail.com

Howdy!

I have been formally trained in traditional art through the UofA for a BFA (Graduated 2020). I am a multimedia artist and my favourite thing to do is learn new techniques and mediums. I’ve always loved learning new artistic mediums. Some of the ones I have extensively done so far are sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, and more. Tattooing is a craft that combines so many of these mediums. The working on 3d surfaces of sculpture, the permanence and cleanliness of printmaking, the colour planning of painting, and drawing. And I really want to learn how to put those together in tattooing.

Some of my favourite subjects to draw are animals; both real and mythological, and I really like challenging myself by drawing new things. For general tattoo styles; I’m most drawn to neo-traditional and new school. My big inspiration outside of tattoos is the fine linework and hatched shading of vintage etchings and medieval manuscript illustrations, the boldness of linocut prints, and abstractions of creatures to be more stylized such as in a cartoony way.

I do like to play around with stylizes and can be very adaptable to match what I am commissioned to do for commissioned work.

For doing art, I really like doing art for other people. I love being around clients and/or working with them directly. Such as bringing to life something they would treasure in commissioned works or selling my art directly at events of all kinds. I love meeting new and returning people in artistic settings.

Thank you for having a look through my online portfolio and providing this opportunity. I would really love to get the chance to properly and safely learn how to tattoo. I also really do miss working in a collaborative environment with other artists and would love to have to chance to do that again in a tattoo shop.

I would love to hear back with comments and perhaps even a bit of critique even if you plan on going with someone else. I just want to be the best I can be and use every chance to improve myself and my body of work.

My email at @serpentstagstudios is always open for any additional comments or questions. I am also available to come in, provide a phone number, or talk via video chat for an interview.

Thank you for your consideration!

And I hope you all have a very lovely day.
